Who May Use the Pool?

Members and their paid guests may use the pool; the guest fee is $3 per day.  Members are responsible for the actions of their guests and must make them aware of the pool rules.  An individual guest (children included) may visit the pool no more than once a week and only if accompanied during the entire visit by a member.

Children under age 10 may not use the swimming pool without the supervision of a responsible caregiver age 16 or above.  Guests are not members and do not have guest privileges.

Members age 10 and above may swim at the pool unchaperoned if they fulfill three requirements:  (1) Annually, they must submit to the club a form giving the pertinent emergency and medical information which will be kept on file at the Club; (2) They must provide on a daily sign-in sheet an emergency number for a caregiver each day they come to the Club unaccompanied; (3) They must be able to swim one length of the pool to the satisfaction of the Pool Manager.

All persons using the pool do so at their own risk.  Club members, officers, and staff are not responsible for accidents or injuries.

One must be a member of Foxcroft Hills Swim and Racquet Club to take swimming lessons; non-members may not give private swimming lessons.  All group and private lessons will be taught by the Foxcroft Hills Pool Staff.

Management reserves the right to deny use of the pool to any one at any time.

While at the pool, swimmers must abide by the following rules:

  • Please shower before entering the pool.
  • No person under the influence of alcohol or drugs may use the pool.
  • No person with skin, eye, ear or nasal infections is allowed in the pool.
  • Infants and toddlers who are not toilet trained must where rubber pants, rubberized swimsuits or special “swim diapers” in both the baby and large pools.
  • No person with communicable disease is allowed in the pool.
  • No eating or chewing gum in the pools.  All food must be eaten on the pool deck.
  • No alcoholic beverages are permitted on the premises.
  • No spitting or smoking in the pool, on pool deck or in the pool house.
  • No animals or pets are allowed in the pool, on the deck or in the pool house.
  • No glass is allowed in the pool or on the deck.
  • Only inflatable or foam balls may be used in the pool; no tennis balls, footballs, hard rubber balls or other hard throwing devices may be used in the pool.  No launchable toys may be used.
  • No water guns or large floatation devices are allowed in the pool area.  Smaller floats, rafts, noodles and other support devices may be used in the large pool with the express permission of the lifeguards.
  • No running and no boisterous or rough play is permitted.
  • Refrain from leaning, sitting or hanging on the lane markers.
  • No diving in any area of the pool less than 5 feet deep is allowed.
  • Pertaining to lap swimming, one lane will be available for lap swimming during most operating hours of the pool.  If a lap lane does not already exist, a lap lane will be created at any time that a member requests. Requests should be directed to a lifeguard or to the Pool Manager.
  • A lifeguard will be on duty in the lifeguard stand at all times during operating hours except during Adult Swim. When twenty or more swimmers are in the pool, two lifeguards must be on duty in the lifeguard stands.  When on duty, lifeguards will wear insignia, clothing or other means of differentiating themselves from lifeguards who are not on duty.
  • There must be a lifeguard on duty for adults to swim along, with the exception of Adult Swim.
  • If any member or guest’s actions are considered inappropiate by a lifeguard, that individual may be asked to sit out on the pool deck for a period of time.  If this individual is asked to sit out three times in one day, a lifeguard or the Pool Manager may ask the individual to leave the premises for the remainder of the day.

Use of the Diving Well (Deep End):

  • No swimming is permitted in the deep end, which is reserved for diving from the diving board only; there is to be no diving or jumping from the sides of the pool into the diving well.
  • All children must be able to go off the diving board and swim directly to the ladder or lap lane, promptly exiting the diving well.
  • There are to be no floaties, swim arms or vests in the diving well.
  • Divers must wait until the person ahead of them reaches the side before going off the board.
  • Only one person at a time is permitted on the diving board.
  • For your safety, please refrain from hanging on the board or sitting on the hand rails.
  • Only one bounce per dive is permitted.

Baby Pool Reminder: The baby pool will be closed during all swim team practice and meet events.

Pool Parties:

  • Birthday parties and dinner gatherings are welcomed at the pool as long as the following criterion is met:  Clear the date with the Pool Manager - Doug Neill.
  • Holiday and weekend use for parties is discouraged due to heavy use of the pool by members at these times.
  • You are responsible for cleaning up the area used, and clean-up must be completed prior to closing time.
  • Only one party may be booked at a time, with a maximum of twelve guests; ‘guests’ refers to the number of children invited to the party, including members and non-members.
  • Guest fees apply for non-members.

Carolina Pool Management has a policy that anyone having a party completes a Pool Party Request Form.  This is to make sure there is the correct number of lifeguards on duty to safely monitor the party and the pool.  The regular number of lifeguards on duty is based upon the normal usage of the pool.  Anytime there is a party we bring in the appropriate number of additional guards along with the regularly scheduled staff to safely support the regular pool usage and the party.

For parties, the charge is $17.00 per lifeguard hour, plus a 30 minute clean up fee per guard.  Please contact Doug Neill / d.neill@cms.k12.nc.us for a Pool Party Request Form and reservation information.

Parking Lot Safety:

Pool managers and lifeguards cannot be responsible for children outside of the pool area.  Members and their guests are reminded to use extreme caution in the parking lot, where children must be carefully supervised at all times by their parents or other specified caregivers.  Members may choose to park SUVs and other large vehicles on the street to improve the safety of our parking lot.

Please remember that your safety, your family’s safety, and your guests’ safety and well-being are of the utmost importance to us all.  Respecting these guidelines should ensure a safe summer at Foxcroft Hills!
