Tennis Director Robert Brenes is a U.S.P.T.A. certified tennis professional. He is a native of North Carolina and began playing tennis at the age of four. He played all through high school receiving all conference and MVP honors. Robert played collegiate tennis for Pembroke State University where he majored in Pre-Med.

While developing tennis programs for the U.S.T.A, he was awarded the prestigious Tennis Educational Merit Award for teaching by both the North Carolina and Southern Tennis Associations. In 2003 his programs at Freedom Park earned the Jeff Adams Youth Foundation’s chapter of the year.

Robert currently serves the membership of Foxcroft as the Director of Tennis in charge of managing all tennis operations. He has been associated with the club for nearly 7 years and enjoys teaching players of all ages and ability levels. He currently resides in Charlotte with his wife Marsha and three boys.

Head Tennis Professional Matt Kline has been with Foxcroft since 2006. Prior to coming to the club Matt was the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Belmont Abbey college.

A native of Dayton, Ohio, Matt was the number one ranked junior player in the Ohio Valley Tennis Association and was an all-state performer at Centerville High School. Matt played collegiately at Division 1 Ohio University, where he won 70% of his matches and served as team captain. He graduated with a degree in journalism in 1991.

Matt has extensive playing and coaching experience, having worked for two summers at the prestigious Stanford tennis Camp for current men’s coach John Whitlinger. His tennis playing family includes two former WTA tour professionals and two current ATP coaches with clients John Insner, Marty Fish, James Blake and former world number one Jim Courier.

Matt works with all aspects of the Foxcroft program, and has been in charge of the very successful Junior program since 2005. He led our Junior USTA 12 and under team to the North Carolina State Championships and took runner-up. Matt currently resides and Charlotte and a married father of two beautiful twin daughters.

Tennis professional Katie Boyer brings over 20 years of experience to Foxcroft and has been with the club since 2008. Katie is a native of Charlotte and began her tennis career at Charlotte Country Club. She quickly rose through the junior ranks with the grand achievement of the number one ranked player in North Carolina in the 18’s age division.

After graduating from U.N.C. Chapel Hill, Katie began her tennis teaching career in earnest. She taught at many prestigious clubs and help coach the North Carolina Junior Wightman Tennis Team.

Katie has served in many roles helping with all aspects of club tennis instruction. She enjoys working with our young junior players and encourages them with her pleasant coaching style. Katie also works in developing our ladies programs. She has been key in reaching and growing our ladies evening clinics and giving a refreshing new perspective to our club.
